Gorgeous Vintage Carved Lapis Lazuli Necklace w/14K Solid Gold Clasp
Hand-carved with Chinese "Shou"
(Longevity) Character!
Lapis Lazuli is a semiprecious stone valued for its deep-blue color caused by the presence of the mineral lazurite. Lazurite is the source of the pigment ultramarine. Lapis lazuli is not a single mineral but an intergrowth of lazurite with calcite, pyroxene, and commonly small grains of pyrite (the shiny gold flecks throughout the stone).
This gorgeous lapis lazuli necklace features fine natural deep blue lapis lazuli beads that have been pierced and hand-carved with the lucky Chinese Shou (longevity) character. The beads are 15 to 22mm in diameter, tapering smaller towards the clasp. The necklace is strung on silk and has a hand-engraved 14 karat yellow solid gold clasp augmented by a 7x9mm polished natural lapis lazuli cabochon. The necklace is approximately 21 inches long.
