ULTRA RARE!
1950s Lady's LeCoultre
Caliber 101 Platinum/Diamond Watch!
3 Carats of
Diamonds!
First
introduced in 1929, the Jaeger-LeCoultre
caliber 101 is
the world's smallest
mechanical watch movement. The movement measures a
miniature 4.8mm wide x 14.0mm long x 3.4mm
thick and weighs barely 1 gram (about the
weight of a paper clip). The movement is
composed of 74 parts, with some of the
screws not much larger than dust
particles. The skeletonized version of
the caliber 101 also holds the record for
the lightest mechanical watch movement
ever produced.
Not only
is the Jaeger-LeCoultre caliber 101 the
world's smallest watch movement, it is
also
one of
the rarest and most expensive watch
movements ever produced.
Jaeger-LeCoultre advertising (see photo)
claimed that the watch movement alone cost
more than 400 times it's weight in gold.
Prices of a new caliber 101 watch sold
today
start
at approximately $100,000 (some models
cost $250,000 and more)
and are available only upon special order
from the factory. Despite being in
continuous production for almost 80 years
(since 1929), only a few hundred watches
have ever been produced.
Most of those
watches are owned by Royalty, the
ultra-rich and Hollywood's Elite.
Queen Elizabeth II
wore a caliber 101 watch
to her coronation in 1953 (see photo).
Princess Di
owned a caliber 101, as
did
1st Lady
Jacqueline Kennedy-Onassis (see photo).
Try
searching the internet for any other
example of a caliber 101 watch for sale...
you won't find one available at any
price. These watches are among the rarest
watches in existence. Most serious
Jaeger-LeCoultre collectors will go a
lifetime without ever seeing a caliber 101
watch.
This
gorgeous caliber 101 lady's watch is
executed in
solid platinum (.950) with 44 sparkling
genuine diamonds (32 rounds and 12
baguettes) totaling approximately 3 carats.
All of the diamonds are G-H color and VVS-flawless
clarity... only the finest diamonds for
one of the world's finest watches!
The
original factory white face/dial of the
watch measures a petite 5mm square and has
black painted hour marks. The watch
winds and sets from a crown on the back.
It has just been cleaned and completely
overhauled and is running perfectly.
The
platinum watch case and bracelet measure
approximately 6mm (about 1/4 inch) wide
and the watch will fit up to a 16cm (6-1/2
inch) wrist. A hidden clasp with a
safety catch holds the bracelet securely.
The bracelet length can be easily
shortened/lengthened by any fine jeweler.
