Truly fit for a king! This one-of-a-kind custom Omega boxed watch/ring/cufflink set was commissioned in 1980 by the Sultan of Oman, Qaboos bin Said al-Said. It was not uncommon for the Sultan to present watches as gifts to friends and visiting dignitaries, however they were typically much less costly and elaborate than this set. Because of the size and expense of this one-of-a-kind Omega watch/ring/cufflink set, it would have been reserved for a very important head of state. Omega doesn't normally offer matching rings and cufflinks for its watches, so this set would have been hand-made specifically for the Sultan. Even the deluxe leather and suede presentation case with fitted compartments for each piece was custom-made by the Omega factory for this set.

While the Omega DeVille Ultraflat was a production model (Omega's top-of-the line), the watch was modified by the Omega factory specifically for the Sultan of Oman with a custom-imprinted precious Lapis Lazuli (blue stone w/gold flakes) dial with diamond markers and Tiger Eye cabochon winding crown. The set is in pristine, NOS (new old stock) condition... it has never been worn and there are no watchmaker service marks inside the caseback. This stunning Omega watch design looks almost identical to the current Patek Philippe Ellipse model. According to Omega, this set originally sold for 7,810 Swiss Francs in 1980, which would equate to approximately $17,000 today.

The set has been reviewed and authenticated by Omega-Switzerland's vintage historian, John Diethelm. According to Mr. Diethelm, the specifics of the set are as follows:

  • OMEGA - CONSTELLATION - gents' watch set

  • mvt# 37'037'059

  • automatic movement of caliber 711 - 24 jewels

  • watch reference: BA 351.8382.M62.OEO / 18K solid gold case with soldered gold mesh bracelet

  • Lapis Lazuli dial 4/4 diamonds crown set with cabochon

  • Set delivered in special presentation box, including Gold ring ( ref. 091.95.116) matching cufflinks ( ref. 091.93.037) to our Agents on April 21, 1980

  • Retail value, in Switzerland and in 1980 = SFR 7'810.- ( complete set, watch, ring & cuff links)

The watch has the most beautiful Lapis Lazuli stone dial you have ever seen. The deep blue precious stone has natural sparkling gold flakes throughout, as shown in the pictures. The dial is accented by genuine diamond markers set in solid 18 karat gold settings at the 3, 6, 9 and 12 o'clock positions. The gleaming pristine solid gold dauphine hands have a frosted finish on one side and a mirror polished finish on the other which gives them a very 3 dimensional appearance. The dial was custom imprinted in gold at the Omega factory with the national symbol of Oman, a khanjar dagger in its sheath superimposed on two crossed swords in scabbards. The dial is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal.

The case and band of the watch are made of solid 18 karat yellow gold. The bezel and sides have a perfect mirror polished finish and the back is satin brush finished. The attached Omega solid gold woven mesh band is full length, just as it came from the factory. It will fit up to approximately an 8 inch wrist.

The watch is powered by its original Omega 24-jewel caliber 711 autowind mechanical movement that looks as pristine and shiny as the day it left the factory. The watch winds, sets and runs perfectly, though it hasn't been serviced since leaving the Omega factory. It has been stored, unused for the last 26 years.

The watch measures approximately 33mm across without the crown and will fit up to approximately an 8 inch wrist. Don't miss this chance to own one of the most desirable and exciting Omega watch sets ever offered!
