Circa 1889 Lady's Solid 18 Karat Gold Tiffany & Co. Pocket Watch by Patek Philippe!
GORGEOUS! Certainly, this has to be one of the finest Tiffany lady's pocket watches I've seen! This ornate solid 18 karat gold lady's pocket watch was produced by Patek Philippe circa 1860s for Tiffany & Co. of New York. The bezel is set with 44 seed pearls and highlights a perfect, mint condition white porcelain dial with brilliant blue Roman numerals on the inner track and gold numerals at 5 minute intervals. Another 44 seed pearls encircle the back, where you'll also find an intricate engraved decorative pattern with red enamel and fleur-de-lis accents. The case is in nice condition for an 1889 watch and shows very little wear. Only a very few very shallow edge dings near the 12 position. The back cover closes well, but doesn't latch. On the inner cuvette, you'll find the following engraved poem:
TREAT ME WELL
THE TIME I'LL TELL
TREAT ME ILL
AND I'LL STAND STILL
The watch is all-original and the case and movement serial numbers (17,834) match. We've just had the movement fully serviced by our master watchmaker and the watch runs & keeps good time. The watch is powered by its original Tiffany (Patek Philippe) 18-jewel stem wind movement. This is a very high-grade Swiss bar movement with wolf's tooth winding
We sold a nearly identical (but slightly less fancy) lady's Tiffany watch about 2 years ago for $4,500. The gold value alone of this heavy (36.6gram, 23.5dwt) solid 18K watch is substantial. The watch measures 33.5mm across. The watch comes with a light blue Tiffany & Co. cloth pouch to store it in.
